In November last year Kim Cameron wrote a series of posts about Project Geneva. It’s a little late, but still very interesting.

  1. Project Geneva - Part 1
  2. Project Geneva - Part 2
  3. Project Geneva - Part 3
  4. Project Geneva - Part 4
  5. Project Geneva - Part 5

And the PDF with the Identity Software + Services Roadmap.

Steve Eichert discusses why webservices should only have a single parameter, a requestobject and a responseobject as a return value.

Some small changes to the RTM version in the new sp1 release.

Briljant timing, since today I started developing on a realtime e-auction application, with the UI communicating over soap.tcp to a windows service acting as the broker.

WSE 2.0 is available on the Microsoft download center.

What can I say, been waiting for this since the Technology preview from last year.

Also check out Mat Powells article: Programming with Web Services Enhancements 2.0.

Can it be true, will the long awaited WSE 2.0 be finally released at TechEd next week? The technology preview has been available since July last year. But since there hasn't been a beta or release candidate since the code complete milestone in March, my bet is on a release candidate.

It's generally a nad idea to put xml in strings, but when returned from a webservice... there is a special place in hell reserved for that developer, sorry CRM guys.

Aaron Skonnard has an interesting article about reaching webservice-endpoints using WSE 2.0 on the webservice developers center. Does this mean WSE 2.0 will be RTW "really soon now"™.

Shadowfax, a SOA reference architecture, explained more indepth, Life in the Pipeline. I only read the first part of the serie, The Shadowfax Architecture, but the pictures help to clarify the concept and design choices a lot.

MS and several others published WS-Discovery, which seems to be Netbios on steroids and a great addition to UDDI for ad-hoc interaction. One of the scenarios I can think of is dicovering computers running a game of hearts and inviting them to join for round.

Omri has a much better explanation of WS-Discovery and a lot more examples.

The big question however remains, will this spec make it into WSE 2.0, when/if the RTW will be released.
