This came up at work today and I finally found some good examples on programming Mappoint 2004 by Chandu Thota, allthough I still doubt it's a good idea to install a client application on a server.

From the release notes:

Since the last release, 2,655 individual commits were done to our runtime and class libraries.

1,397 bugzilla bugs were closed, four times as much as in the previous release cycle. So this is certainly a bug fixing release ;-)
